Anatolian rug symbols express the life of the weaver, his desires, dreams and goals.

However, because the Anatolian woman was trapped in the domestic space for years, many symbols were limited to marriage and child-rearing.

The Turkish women's struggle for equality is changing the patterns. We also changed the rug patterns in the same way. We found patriarchal symbols hidden in Turkish rugs and turned them into new meanings.

Anatolian rug symbols express the weaver’s life, her desires, dreams and goals.

However, since Anatolian women were confined to the domestic space for years, many symbol meanings were limited to marriage and raising children.

Turkish women’s fight for equality is changing the patterns. So we changed the rug patterns the same way. We found the patriarchal symbols hidden inside the Turkish rugs and transformed them into new meanings.
