KORFU KUMQUAT takes its name and source material from the magnificent Greek island of Corfu
Kumquats thrive on the island of Corfu
The small and bitter, oval-shaped, orange-colored fruit first arrived in Greece from China in the 1800s
Today, these crops, which are largely grown on the North coast, are turned into liquor and sugar and sold on the island where Prince Philip grew up.

When the time came for Gerstner and Karl Bradl, founders of AEDES DE VENUSTAS, to imagine a citrus fragrance to match their baroque style, they hired Greek perfumer Ilias Ermenidis, who immediately thought of his homeland with its rich noble charm and natural beauty

Knowing that citrus scents tend to fade the quickest, he paired kumquat with Calabrian bergamot, an invigorating squeeze that signals the dawn of something new
Cedrat Calabrian bergamot, the star of Earl Grey tea, comes from the thick rind of the fruit
Mandarin brings a spiciness balanced by notes of mandarin and orange blossom essence
Salty ambrox and mystical olibanum lead us to a seaside view

Ginger, lavender, Granny Smith apple and rhubarb add a rounded fruitiness to the center
And Alaskan cedar, a tree from the cypress family, vetiver, captive musks and tonka weave the dark background that unwittingly holds the citrus cocktail together
