Another type of rosewood, the “palisander,” with its intricate carvings and reminders of tranquil Asian gardens, provided the path to inspiration. "I can't make overly figurative scents," explains perfumer Alberto Morillas. “For me, perfume is a melody.” His 2015 rendition is a milky light shining through the wood, so bright it turns into silk. Abstract yet intensely evocative, PALISSANDRE D'OR expresses the essence of Alberto Morillas' style, defined by the master in three words: “Fluidity, transparency and power.” In this dazzling fragrance inlay pattern, crystal clear ambrette, a natural musk with facets of rose, pear and orris, illuminates rich coatings of cool spices, pink pepper, coriander and nutmeg. As the intense heat of cinnamon rises, the scent opens its heart to reveal its secret: a rare sandalwood extract from Sri Lanka. Slightly smoky, rose-tinted and creamy, it's made even sweeter by the milky warmth of copahu balm and silky patchouli essence. An intriguing combination of warm, clean bark and sun-kissed leather, the ambrox scent embeds its delicate motifs wherever it is sprayed. Plus, a bold trio of cedar essences add structure and texture to the bright blend. Clean, refreshing Virginian cedar gives it liveliness and tempo.
