AEDES DE VENUSTAS AMNESIA ROSE comes in a fluted glass bottle with a peacock blue pattern, a matte black emblem-stamped cap and a sleek yet heavy design. As Bradl says, “This is a rose for everyone.” A sparkling and saturated spicy floral fragrance that pierces with a voluminous roundness that is evident on the skin. It is a liquid that smells as if soaked with saffron and patchouli-edged leaves, in a palette that emerges from fresh rose earth and transforms into a vintage as if blowing the dust off a fine red wine. Its first breath captures the moment on a still autumn evening, just after dusk, when the opening of a door brings a breeze from a bouquet that scatters the still air. This rose is not deep red or pale pink, but pastel purple so pale it is almost gray. The petal edges begin to curl open with a fullness that mimics the shape of a bulbous teacup, full of rich spices and rare wood fragments. Her composition was inspired by the still life aesthetic of AEDES PARFUMER on New York City's Lower East Side, where an abundance of arrangements spill out of plump vases alongside feather taxidermy and vintage fabrics. There is incense in the air and probably a blotter under your nose. The name comes from a variety of rose grown in France. The scent is light, but the visuals have a vintage look and feel, translated into AMNESIA ROSE. Perfumer Luca Maffei has spent years capturing the essence of perfumery in a bottle, adding peppery and mysterious tones over time and making sure he creates something that will work on everyone's skin. “This is an intense rose whose personality is never lost and often overlooked,” says Maffei. To create a continuous bloom with the wood spice, he compared the absolute Moroccan rose and Bulgarian rose extract with cyprus oil, saffron and succulent bush bushman's wax. The scent of fizzy pink pepper is immediately palpable, but the initial sparkle of AMNESIA ROSE is soon replaced by a satiny intensity that meets a dry, earthy cushion of labdanum, patchouli and oud.
